About The Assembly
The annual CPN Information Technology Professionals’ Assembly is a yearly gathering of Information Technology practitioners in Nigeria and Diaspora with the objective of discussing and strategizing on emerging issues in Information Technology. The forum also generates recommendations and decisions that impact positively on the industry and the nation. The Information Technology Professionals’ Assembly has held without fail since 2007, and has continued to set the tenor and directions for IT policies for successive governments.
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) introduced in the second half of the last century have shaped substantially the mode of peoples’ interaction, business process, entertainment and learning. ICT are encouraging globalization, exchange of information and the proliferation of cyber space. The benefits of using these technologies are immense and they are here to stay. In a context of globalization and further economic integration in recent decades, the relationship between the economy and national security has become increasingly interlinked
While some have argued that spending too much of a nation’s wealth on security (i.e., the military) can decrease its productivity and lead to economic decline, privileging the economy over security, on the other hand, can lead to a State having less influence in the world order. The 2022 IT Professionals’ Assembly shall be considering, among other things, the relationships and the interplays, and how Information Technology (IT) could be leveraged for improved national security and economic stability. From the deliberations, the Assembly will come up with findings and recommendations that will be geared towards deploying advanced technologies through effective partnerships that promotes economic, technological, and national security competitiveness.
